The authority vested in International Accreditation Union is that assigned by public acclaim, recognition and respect for our aims and purposes. We seek no legislative recognition or authority as such measures are deemed a measure of totalitarianism and ultimately against the public interest. We believe in the rule of law and recognise the responsibilities of all individuals and corporations to act with integrity and responsibility. IAU recognises that, especially in matters of international trade, authority in the conventional interpretation of the word, is fairly meaningless because there is no global government to assign such a status. Our authority therefore comes from public acclaim and the recognition accorded it by our membership and those organisations that recognise the merit and contribution of IAU, its prediction and supporting documents.
